You might have better luck with this question if you move it to the "Cars & Transportation > Motorcycles" category. The "Sports > Cycling" category is for bicycles.
If you are interested in an entry level road bicycle, I would suggest a Bianchi Brava. Nice steel ride, good components, affordable price. I would spend over $1000 and get something a little better though; if you are going to spend $600 to $700 on a road bike, what is a few hundred more to get something you will be happy with for longer?

If youre looking for a crotch rocket, try looking at the cervelo entry level bikes. they are fast and lightweight but a lit unforgiving on the road sensation.

I've never had a rocket on my BICYCLE, let alone put it near my crotch! Bicyclists don't need rockets, they have Twin Cannons of pure muscle!
