its got to be siamese.
they are very intelligent very affectionate and very loyal. I remember when i was a child my next door neighbours had a siamese, they attacked a burglar!!!
anyway, they may not be fluffy like other breeds such as the persian but you will never be short of hugs, unlike other breeds which can be quite stand-off-ish
i have always gone for siamese crosses as sometimes pure siamese can be quite overpowering. By crossing the breed you can get the best bits from both breeds. At the mo i have a bengal cross siamese, and he is the most tolerant affectionate cat going. With a love of water and a curly tail. I would recommend a persian cross siamese.
Siamese are very terratorial however, so dont get brothers / males as they will spray urine to mark terratory even when neutered. Siamese cats are fine on their own, or get a male and female as this is less likely to cause antagonism.

If you're talking PB, I like the munchkin. I have no experience with any, but I think it's aweful cute that they have itty bitty legs, kinda like the weiner dog only feline and without the back problems.
I don't know any PB cats personally, so I guess my fave is the mutt cat, because that's all I've ever really known and they've all done good by me. All 20+ of them *we're not cat people, I swear! we just take in pregnant strays we come across, get the kittens homes and get the mom fixed and prolly a home, and then we've had cats follow us home that we kept, a couple adoptions over the years, and some strays turned housecat*

This is a very complex question, and depends on who you're asking. I believe the very best cat that anyone can have (except ME because I am allergic to them) is the run-of-the-mill, grey/black tiger-striped tabby (domestic short-hair). They are very mellow, sweet & loveable, are good around kids and other cats & dogs and a total joy to have as a member of your family. You do NOT have to have an exotic beauty to have a wonderful, loving companion, and if I were able to have this breed, I'd have 2 or 3 of them. Yes, I have to miss out on these bundles of love because they will actually throw me into a full-blown asthma attach. But, if you are not allergic, you won't be dissappointed with a domestic short-hair grey tabby-cat. And, FYI--on this question I am going for temperment rather than beauty.

My fav breed of cat is the MANX..Its a bobtail cat and an absolutely amazing cat to have..If you like dogs then get one of these cats..They are so much like dogs ..They love water most of them do..They can be trained to retreive sticks and even go hunting with hunters if trained right..The only problem I see with this breed of cat is, They are head strong..Not ment to be petted every five minutes like alot of cats like..If they dont want to be petted/bothered then dont push your luck or they will remember it and punish you later by not looking at you or leaving to go to another room for hours at a time, not eating just to watch what you do about it..They are smart and some say they are as smart as a Five yearold human..Most of the Manx's like men. They are Mans best cat some say but some love the women also..Depends on the cat..They are very protective over their Owner and will even take on a bulldog or any big dog to protect you...They are awesome hunters and will clean out any infested problems with rats/mice/squrrils..They have been known to go fishing in lakes and catch fish bigger then they are..Great cats but should not be with too young of kids unless raised around the young child...

Maine Coons by far are the best breed of cat. They are large, fluffy, and probably the most intelligent breed of cat. The look like little teddy bears and constantly use their paws to play and explore.

The mixed breed is the best. As someone else said, a little of everything. For full attitude you can't beat a mixed breed Tortie.

The Persian.
For their temperament, long flowing coat, their beauty and their loyalty.
Someone above said they liked the white one from the food commercial. That Persian (the white Fancy Feast cat) is a Chinchilla Persian, and it has GREEN eyes ~ not blue. Pretty unmistakable.

I would have to say Maine Coons, because I have one! He has had a lot of health problems since we've had him but I think that makes him even more special to me.
He is a mackerel tabby and very fluffy. He is very clever and even now he's 5 he is still playful (although doesn't realise his size and strength sometimes - I quite often have scratches on my arms from 'playing' with him!). He sleeps on my pillow at night and likes to 'chat' - he miaows at you when you talk to him!
We have two moggies as well and although I love them dearly my Maine Coon, Marlon, will always be mummy's special boy!

Maine coon definitely! I have a cross she looks just like a pure Maine Coon. They look gorgeous, they have raccoon like tails that stick up like a bog brush when they walk/ run. They have lots of fur round their cheeks like a little lions mane. Their fur is like rabbit fur really soft and silky. Their feet are also really furry and it sticks out between their pads. They are so intelligent, they don't make a fuss and hardly meow much but they talk to you in little chirps. They communicate to you constantly chirping away! They love to play and remain the baby face look of a kitten. They often play fetch with bits of paper or small objects that they will bring up to you and chirp when dropping it as a signal for you to throw it for them to catch. They also love water, running water. They love ponds/ streams or water features in the house. My cat loves to drink from the sink or bath and she will follow anyone to the toilet to demand a drink. Maine coons love interacting and will usually decide if they want you to play with them or if they want strokes. They are expensive to buy as pure breeds but they are one of the most interactive and loving breeds and comical to watch as they learn new tricks.
