Who of these two would you back in the Dubai World Cup, assuming they run, and why?
I think Discreet Cat is a very talented horse, but he has never had to fight for a win and Invasor is far more battle hardened. Saying that Discreet Cat will get a weight allowance for being younger and has won his races very impressively. Debate!

I know that there will be other horses in the field and it is by now means certain that either Invasor or Discreet Cat will make the line-up.
I just want to know who, theoretically, people think would win if it came down to these two horses battling out the final furlong.

you can't really argue with invasors form particularly in the breeders cup so my pennies will be on him!

Invasor is a very nice horse, sort of a blue collar type. He deserves all the credit he receives.

Discreet Cat on the other hand is a freak, he is not a normal horse.

I normally do not get into the hype on a horse like Discreet Cat, but I do beleive he is just that good. His cruising speed is unlike any horse that has yet to race. He has not been tested, and will not be tested.

Discreet Cat is my choice..........He was asked a little his last time out but he does everything effortlessly and that's why he's never had to fight for the win........So far every race has been a romp in the park for him...........Invasor is a fighter and doesn't give up............When then ran together the Cat beat Invasor by 3 lengths.........I actually think these are the best 2 horses on the track today and if and when they do race together again it's going to be a close finish........Not as close as Alydar/Affirmed in their famous Belmont Stakes race but darn close..........Both horses are fit and from what I've read the Cat is rarin' to go..........GREAT QUESTION!!!!!!...........CAT

I agree with Oldschool, the field is going to count for a lot in this match race. And face it, both Invasor and Discreet Cat will have a huge target on their back...LOL! I'll be looking for who throws multiple runners into the mix, you know there is going to be a rabbit in hopes of wearing DC out since he's always been a front runner. My choice would be the horse that can rate the best.

If the weights are within 3 to 5 lbs. Invasor should have his measure. There is the issue of shipping to Dubai though. There are many runners who never raced well again after running poorly in Dubai. I don't know the reason but the level of competetion combined with the stress of such a long journey may be too much for many horses to handle.

Both horses are owned by a member of the Makthoum family and they naturally want them to race in their homeland. I think you will see less US based owners attempting to make this trip. It's not worth it if you want to run your horse again afterwards.

i would back discreet cat in that one because i think the longer straight will benefit him also the fact that he's been around there before and won in a canter . he has'nt had a hard race because he has'nt come upagainst anything like invasor yet . another factor is frankie when he's up for it and has the horse under him he's very hard to beat and he'll be up for it that day .

i believe discreet cat would win if it came down to a dual in the final furlong mainly because of frankie , cast your mind back to the irish champion stakes 2001 galileo had already beat fantastic light in the king george at ascot over further admitadly but galileo was one of the best horses of my time so far and i think he was beaten ( ok by a better horse on day) but alot of it was down to frankie (i believe )

I believe Invasor to be the best horse in the world at the moment!

I think you have to back Invasor based on the quality of opponents he's beaten, but it should be a great race.

I would have to look at the rest of the field for that. Maybe a rabbit is in, or others to slow the pace. Post will be a factor. Dubai - I believe - is a deeper track. That may play a part as well.
