No Goverment is about simple Power, Money, Control and Assets.

Religion is about total Greed. Control of all you money, thoughts, and life. The collection of vast amounts of assets is a bonus.

I think it's kind of funny how when you ask this question, religious people say "Well, yeah, but see my religion isn't like that. All others are by mine is right, so it's not." If it's possible that other religions are capable this wrongfulness, well, sorry, but so is yours. It might not be, but if you are going to assert that other religions are, then you must consider it's possible for your religion too.

Of course it is. Look how much money the Roman Catholic church has got. If you do some background research you will find that most religions have a lot of wealth.

With 'religion' a peasant can exert power over a King (Rasputin and Nicholas II of russia spring to mind - how would history have been different, if that piece of peasant scum had not had influence on Alexandra?)

No, a true religion as about celebrating your beliefs with like-minded people and accepting that not everyone will think the same way you do.

Sadly, such religions are very rare these days.

Check out how much property the Church of England owns in the UK and it will confirm your suspicions. Not to mention Bishops getting to sit in the House of Lords. Nobody has questioned this despite the witch hunt on life and hereditary peers.
