Yesterday we found a cat on our front porch (I don't think it is older than 4 months) It has a scratch on its nose but looks fine otherwise, a bit skinny maybe. Anyway we gave it some water and left it outside but this morning we went to leave our house and it was waiting for us. We took it to the local vet but they said we need to call the ranger. Its a public holiday (Australia day) and they were shut, they won't be open until monday. Is it safe to let the cat live in our house until then. They lady at the vet said they cat seemed fine. We are happy to keep the cat once it has been check and know that no one is going to claim it. It looks like it has been homeless fo a while but it is very friendly. What should we do with it until Monday?
Thanks Heaps :)

The cat would love some food to go with the water, a safe place to sleep and some tender loving care. it's only two days. You can pick up a disposable litter pan. if your concerned keep it confined to one room while it's with you. Cats are very clean animals, the moggies just having a tough time at the moment and may just be lost or strayed from it's owner. Take a drive around your area and see if you find any lost kitty posters.
Ask your vet if it might be micro chipped it's a way to find the owner.
Your question states your in Australia, so there's no problem with rabies. A flea collar may be in order, but that's up to you.
Best of luck with kitty, I'm sure everything will be fine till Monday.

Depends on what you'd like to do. The biggest problem you might have with a stray like that is fleas, I would think. Cat fleas can occasionally bite humans too.
If you're happy to adopt the cat and know you're looking to keep, keep it at home. Keep it seperated from the rest of the house in one room if you can; it avoids accidents all over the house from kitty - ie too rambunctious, not properly litter trained, flea spreading, and any other misc accidents from kittens causing heck.
Just get it checked at first opportunity.

Well, if the vet said that the cat seemed fine then I don't see any reason why you shouldn't keep it... Please just open your hearts and share a little love (even if you do decide to still take it to the ranger on monday) Which would be really sad, cause it sounds like you were chosen by this cat and I think you should feel grateful. I know I would :-)

Keep baby in the bathroom, or other small spare room with a little litter box, some food and water. She will be happy for the warmth and the safe place to be. then later, if you have other cats, you can do the slow introduction to make the process smooth! see the link the below.
Thank you for looking out for her, and she has claimed you. You are hers now! =^.^= She will love you furever.

Since you don't have any other animals to worry about catching something from the kitten I would bring him in and give him lots of love.He must feel so lonely and hungry and afraid. If you had other animals I would not but you don't so do bring him in. I too think he has chosen you for a reason. Take him to the vet for tests and shots on Monday and love him until then.

You could keep it in small cage until Monday or just keep feeding it outside until then. Try to hang in there until Monday. But, you may not want to let it inside until you know for sure he/she is disease free. What a very nice thing you are doing.

Feeding it won't hurt. If it's friendly it it probably a female that "outgrew" it's owners. Unfortunately that is a problem here in the USA too and why I now have WAY too many cats! If you can give her a home she'll give back more than you can imagine if you don't already have a cat.

I just took in a stray cat of the same age too. I just kept her rather than wonder what might be happening to her if I didn't keep her. Now that you've fed her, she's gonna want to stick around.

If it was me, I'd bring it inside, as long as you don't have any other pets that could be infected with any possible disease that it may or may not have. If you do have another pet, keep the stray inside and also isolated from your other pet(s). This animal deserves a chance at life, and food, water, etc.

Take him inside and give him love, that's all he wants in life. But be sure to have him fixed so as to stop the endless cycle of too many unwanted cats. As for disease's as long as his eyes and nose aren't runny or snotty he should be fine.
