Give them money to buy you something when they go shopping. If they are honest toward you they will give you the item, reciept and any change. I believe that to be a pretty good indicator.

You can't tell the final score on that until the game is over. People can change, you change. Don't put all of your trust in other humans. You don't need to be cynical, but always use your own judgment; if your judgment is generally lousy, then you'll have to trust someone else, but make sure they aren't in it for their own good and not yours.
Not easy advice, I know.

The one you don't think twice to call at 4am when you just want to talk to someone, and he/she won't mind although he/she may grumble abit.
The one who holds up your hair when you vomit after drinking too much booze, and when you pass out drunk, tuck you safely in bed and make sure you're okay before leaving you alone.
The one who would fly 3000 miles to see you get married even if he/she is on the other side of the world.
The one who would drop everything to see you if you happen to end up in a bad situation.
The one who gives you straightforward honest opinions and is not afraid to hurt your feelings when you ask them something.
The one you can trust with huge secrets you can't even tell your pillow.

your true Friends are the ones that know you are sad, without asking. They know what flavour ice-cream you like and your favourite colour and food. they know what kind of music you like and your favourite place to hang out. they are a true friend if you confide in them and they don't tell anybody. if you yell at them for something silly and they don't mind cause they know you are going through a tough time and mostly they are the person that makes you laugh out loud (together) and doesn't judge you no matter what.

i trust no one 100% but.. if they stand by your side wether your right or wrong .. and love you no matter what.. come to your rescue when ur down and sad or need a buck for lunch..this builds trust.. when they got your back you will feel it.. you will know if you have doubts then go slow in any relationship for wot ever person in your life.. sometimes we need to keep quiet about personal things its ok to vent to your best friend. they will do it back

well as i found out the hard way
i was always told you will find out who your true friends are when you hit rock bottom and its very true
before my hubby got into his big accident i thought we had lots of friends but after his accident and i had to stay home from work to take care of him and a baby i found out no one really gave a crap
out of all our "FRIENDS" only about a hand full came to ask if i needed help
if i needed anything at the store, if i wanted a break
it is very true
