Three things: Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day--that's 64 oz. Water helps keep the system flushed so the skin doesn't have to do so much work getting rid of toxins. Also, make sure you are not constipated--eat fruits and vegetables. Fruit is the cleanser of the body--eat 3-6 fresh servings a day. And raw vegetables help bulid the body (and skin). If you want beautiful skin, eat raw veggies! Beauty comes from within.
Second: use a product that has salicylic acid. This gently removes the debris on the skin without making it dry or red--it's also quite cheap (try the 99cent stores). Use it every day whether you have spots or not as it helps keep the skin from getting clogged. It works great on blackheads too but is far gentler than most acne products. Glycolic acid also works like this.
Three: take zinc 100mg a day for 3 months, then cut back to 25-50mg. Zinc is first class in balancing hormones for both men and women and can help sallow skin look better as well as clear up acne incredibly. Don't take it on an empty stomach!

I take it you may have taken A'cutan , that is very strong and will for the most part, clear you're Skin and keep it so. There can and will be some eruptions here and there, that's normal for we react to our environment and our food intake as well as cleanliness.
To help you're problem you should ad, Vitamin A= Beta Carotene ( must be water soluble or will harm you're Liver)Beta Carotene is!
Also ad, Vitamin Zinc, about 20-25 mg. per day, Vitamin E, 400 mg., is also recommended. Another important thing to remember: keep you're intake of Diary and Caffeine low, those two will induce breakouts.
And always, always clean face a.m.& p.m. Most any good water soluble wash will do the trick.
Consistency will pay of.
Regarding blackeads: This is a racurring problem and not curable but a regular Facial, once a month, can take care of this by extractions.

Personally I SWEAR by Eve Lom cleansing balm.... Its very expensive but I do think its made all the difference to my skin. Also, as a long ter solution, my skin was at its best when I was going to the gym 4 times a week- it wasnt an immediate difference but after a couple of months it lloked great.
Realted to that, Ive never seen anyone that I thought 'glowed' before until I saw a friend who'd been on a detox diet and she looked amazing- her normally oily skin was fantastic.... So i hate to say it but the right food and exercise can make all the difference!
Finally, google "dermalogica"with "face mapping".... they are currently giving away free samples- try and order a few under different names- but ive been using mine and they seem quite good!
Good luck!
(oh and also, use oil free foundation and Benefit's BooZap range is really good!)

I wouldn't try any of the high street products, in my experience they either don't work or make skin worse.
Have a look at the following websites for advice and to see what products are available, most items are reviewed so you'll get a good idea of what works. I use Anthony Logistics Glycolic Cleanser, which is for men but isn't overly strong so should be ok for women too.

Boil a cup of water and drink it warm first thing in the morning,
Try not to smoke.Use Nivea as a moisturiser or baby oil and before going to bed boil a cup of water and drink it warm.
Surgical Spirits is great for cleaning your skin.works far better than all these high priced cosmetic products if you look at the ingredients most of these products are the same just different packaging and prices.

Drink loads of water. This is not as easy as it sounds. I plan on having 8 glasses a day but always seem to only have about 2.
This will help loads to clear up your skin.

In addition to the water mentioned by previous advisors, I would suggest loading up on the fresh fruits and veggies as well as cutting back on dairy products and sugary snacks. Taking vitamin E tablets would also help. Good luck!

The secret to clear skin (if you ask the supermodels) is very simple: Water. Drink lots of it. Use it to clean your skin.
And a good skin tonic and a moisturizer is a good start too.

What everyone else has said, but also rinse your face with cold water after you've washed. It closes the pours.
