I was told it was because the only recorded Birthday parties in the bible, of which there were two. Someone got killed at each one!
Surely this is not the reason! al logical adult would not use this as a reason? would they?

Ok so if it is "self love" or "Pride" Why do they celebrate Wedding anniversaries? surely all the bad things that happen on Birthdays are just as likeley to happen at an anniversary party? and if your celebrating that your not serving god that day?

You have answered your own question, it is not the actions of a logical adult! but in addition, they are bystanders - witnesses - to life, not participants.
Jehovah's Witnesses often reject birthdays as "pagan" and will therefore refuse to participate in them - including Christmas. In addition to this, Witnesses also reject birthdays because they claim that they are placed in an unfavourable light in the Bible.
The Bible only mentions two instances of birthdays (at least explicitly). These are Genesis 40:20-22, and Matthew 14:6-10. Two pagan rulers are in view: Pharaoh and Herod.
The Watchtower - thier guiding light states, in the Reasoning book:
"Do Bible references to birthday celebrations put them in a favourable light? The Bible makes only two references to such celebrations...Jehovah's Witnesses take note that God's Word reports unfavourably about birthday celebrations and to shun these." (Reasoning from the Scriptures, pp. 68-69).
Jehovah's Witnesses argue that as negative things happened on these men's birthdays, then all birthdays must be evil. These idiots are not logical - is clearly a case of guilt by association as far as the Watchtower is concerned. But then do you honestly think that you are going to find really sound reasoning within the Johova's Witness movement?
It is worth asking a Witness, to read the above mentioned texts and ask: "What is the source of the evil in the Biblical accounts? The birthdays or the men (Pharaoh and Herod) themselves? Obviously, it is the men who did the evil. There is nothing to suggest that these men did evil because of their birthdays. These men did evil all the time not just on their birthdays. Also, in the Genesis account, Pharaoh also did some good by setting a man free!

Well it is a true statement that the two recorded examples are surrounded by getting killed. So that is a clue of what a christian may consider. But more is that the celebration comes from Babylon. It is actually a tradition of self worship so to speak. So you do have to consider what the root of the celebration were surrounded by, which was adultery, drunkenness, and many things that the bible says God hates.
So being an adult you would also consider what God approves of, and what he does not. Since these celebrations come from a religion that butchers kids in fire, and conflicts with bibles regulations, it should become or make more sense to see why Jehovah's Witnesses would not mix in that celebration. Interfaith, or mixing with other religions is something God hates. So if you love God, and if you Love Jesus, well then take more time and reflect on what they approve of and not.

From what I understand, JW believe that other Christian Denominations (especially Catholics) have "sold out" by allowing or encouraging old Pagan practices to continue. It was a way of encouraging the peasant folk become Christians without getting too much of a culture shock.
Celebrating the anniversary of a birth is such a practice. As is giving presents, Christmas pudding (Christmas in general for that matter!), Easter with Easter eggs, May Day with maypoles and a whole load of other things that western society celebrates without even thinking about it.
You'll find that Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate those either.
Oh yes, not to forget "All Souls Day"

I am not a Jehovah witness, but I happen to know the reason that they do not celibrate birthdays.. It is because in the bible there is a passage that states "The Lord does not esteem one day over another" -(paraphrazed) This means that there is not a certain day that is more special than another.. So they believe that if you celebrate a birthday or a holiday then you are not following the Lords example... Hope this helps!

I once had a classmate who was a Jehova's Witness and she said they don't celebrate birthdays because by celebrating birthdays people are kind of worshipping themselves or putting all the attention and pride on themselves while they should (according to JW beliefs) never do that to anyone else than God.

I would say that I've met plenty of JWs and several are great, rational people and several are not. You can't judge a person as rational by their religion, nor can you judge a religion by a subset of its people... *sigh* however I wont argue with your postulate! :)
They say they do not because the two mentionings of birthdays
(they always forget/neglect Jesus' birthday when the 3 wisemen show up)
both ended in beheadings. The first one was i the old testament somewhere... the second one well, John the Baptist lost his head.
I'm not a JW, I was married to one for a while...

My auntie is a Jehova. I don't actually know why they don't celebrate their birthdays, but I think it looks selfish or something, like a full day not celebrating God and devoted to them. I'll ask her later for you and edit my answer.
