My cockatiel pair layed eggs and the eggs hatched so, the babies are 5 weeks and 2 days old. The babies are out of the nestbox and they are now sleeping on the perches and sometimes the cage floor too. They are also beginning to eat on their own. Anyways, I still kept the nestbox and the female and male go in there from time to time. Why are they going in and out and when will they lay their next clutch?

KitKat's right.

Around 8 weeks, they should be fully and confidently weaned, but do not let the parents breed one clutch after another. This could wind up killing your hen and potential chicks. You can take away the nest box around 8 or 9 weeks and especially on smaller birds, they shouldn't be breeding more than twice a year, in my opinion. Very, very exhausting and pretty dangerous.

**Laughs!** Welcome to the chaotic international of horney cockatiels! I had this right concern with my first pair of cockatiels. Little stinkers could lay everywhere if it became even fairly shaded. At one component they laid a grasp at the back of the refrigerator! Ghah! Cockatiels are familiar breeding birds because of the fact they are undemanding to reproduce. Too undemanding often times. now and returned they're going to supply you eggs in the event that they provide the impact of being at a shadow, I swear! **Sighs** talking of breeding, my recent pair is at it , proving how opportunistic the species is. If given 0.5 the prospect, they're going to do the mating dance and detect a place to place their eggs. there's some issues you're able to do to lessen breeding activity. the 1st is to shrink their solar hours to eight hours an afternoon. Secondly, get rid of any packing containers they might have of their cage. Thirdly, attempt to lessen the quantity of warmth mushy foodstuff they get. you ought to to concern exceedingly in the event that they get a large style of warmth intense protein ingredients like eggs and peanut butter. With my birds, i detect they are large gentle to easy in any volume. now and returned masking their cage will positioned them into breeding mode because of the fact the darkish cage looks like a nest field to them. i detect that my birds are much less probably to reproduce in the event that they are caged for long sessions. I must additionally observe that cockatiels are between the few species which will mate for the organic exhilaration of it. relaxing. Very relaxing, LOL!

I would not continue to let her breed so often. Laying eggs is very hard on birds.
