Why do so many people want to connect with China and what about Taiwan then? Now everyone hates Taiwan!

From a Chinese point of view (since I'm Chinese), I don't hate Taiwan at all. I have many friends from Taiwan. My family has friends from Taiwan.

Having more people connecting with Mainland China doesn't mean people hate Taiwan. I agree there are differences between the two, but when friends got together for dinners and drinks, when we were all speaking the same language and eating the same type of food, those differences vanished.

Those who like one and hates another are simply closed-minded, near-sited, and ignorant. If they say they hate Taiwan, don't listen to them, they obviously don't know enough about the place.

Cheer up!

China has a cheap labour and much investors come to explore this big land. Mainland Chinese salary is about 15% of taiwanese's salary for hte same job, and also Taiwan is a small place when it compares to it.

Taiwan is actually part of china, but taiwanese are still in denial since the income and government have difference.

i am from Hong Kong, i am not interested into the political issue, but i hope they can get peaceful, so everyone can make a nice living and feel safe, unlike the Iraq, war everyday, people are dieing from hungry and so on. after all, we are all human race without choosing our own luck.

Taiwan is part of China. However, most Taiwanese are in denial. I myself have no interest in politics. I do hope that peace will prevail between them.

China's economy is booming in an exponiental rate! Everything is the world of China!

Actually, I came to asia and deliberately chose Taiwan as my base to travel from and to teach. A) the salary is higher. B) I can say what I want when I want and i wont get arrested. C) Women here are beautiful. D) The crazy guys in government are too busy shooting themselves to worry about shooting the rest of the people in the world. E) its subtropical and it doesnt get too cold.

And later on, after a few years I am still here because my wife is Taiwanese!

Taiwan rocks.

I like Taiwan. I have an old friend living there. I respect China, but I don't like what they have done to America. It's pretty crappy having "Made In China" all over things.

China is trendy now because of its burgeoning economy and emerging superpower status. They have become the media darling. In reality, all the "action" is in the sovereign country of Taiwan:

a growing vibrant capital city (Taipei);
a free press, uncensored Internet;
free and open presentation of information about health threats such as SARS, AIDS, Bird Flu;
an enthusiastic democracy (the voter turnout in the 2004 Presidential race was 80%!!);
preservation of true Chinese culture;
...along with a growing sense of Taiwanese identity;
friendly people, especially outside of Taipei

Taiwan rocks!!

"Can't we all jus....Jus get along!!"
I like everyone from everywhere!!
Unless they're @$$holes!!!
Then, not so nice, but it has nothing to do with where someone is from, or what their color, it's the individual people that show their true intentions!!

China/Taiwan the same sun sets in both places!
