Give the cat a flea bath ~ then, give it a capstar pill. This kills the fleas on the cat within 30 minutes. You can actually watch the fleas die and drop off of the animal.
Then, get some revolution. This is a topical solution, administered on the back of the neck (between the shoulder blades)...Revolution is for fleas, ticks AND ear mites. What a great product.
Better get them out of your house, too (if the cat is indoors at all). Fleas are bad news ~ after the cat is treated for fleas, you might want to give it a tapeworm tablet. This is one major way that cats get tapeworms. Fleas carry them.

You can use Advantage of Revolution for the cat. It's just a liquid that you put at the base of their neck by their shoulerblades. You should have one month protection using this. You can also get a Flea Comb from the vet. The one I have zaps the fleas when the combs teeth makes contact with it. It's sort of like the bug zappers people use outside during the summer. Anyway, it kills the fleas and you don't have to put any chemicals on you pet. You also get some precious time with your cat on your lap and they just lay there because they're getting combed and lots of attention from you!!

You didn't give a lot of information here, but I'll try. I went thru this last year, even though my cat is a strictly INDOOR (as in--NEVER outside) cat, and for some un-known reason, he got an infestation of fleas. I took him to my groomer for a good flea bath. He is a loooooong-haired pure white Turkish Angora, and at least twice a year, we have his coat shaved down, (this is not necessary on a short-haired cat), then, apply Frontline PLUS, as directed on the package, at the back of the neck (or have the groomer do it). You can get Frontline & Frontline Plus (the PLUS also protects against ticks) at your vet, the groomer or a high-quality pet supply store. I have found that the Frontline Plus works better than Advantage. PLEASE, I beg you, do NOT attempt to spare the expense and pick up a cheaper imitation at Wal-Mart, etc., and for the Love of God, do NOT use a Hartz-Mountain product for this. You may kill your cat with one of these substitutes. The effect of Frontline will work for a month +, and also kills any/all flea eggs, etc. Mark your calendar as to when you put it on, and the next application should be done one month later (not necessarily to-the-day, but give or take within a few days), then, keep your cat IN THE HOUSE. Even this will not fully protect her from fleas, but it's a good start and most certainly will protect her/him from all of the other diseases and bad things out doors. Good luck to you---I got real lucky and that ONE application worked for mine.

Advantage, Frontline and Revolution all work about equally well. Since kitty already has fleas, it might be worth considering that Advantage works a little bit faster. Frontline also works against ticks, doesn't need to be applied as often, and doesn't smell as bad (kitty might appreciate that!)
Whatever you use, use it quickly, before the fleas get established in your home! If that happens you'll have to fumigate the house as well as de-flea the cat.

Give your cat a bath with flea soap and then use a flea collar. And then give it another bath with the soap about a week to 10 days later and put the collar on again. Do not get the collar wet.

go to your vet and ask for FRONTLINE PLUS its the best but kind of pricey. you may want to als buy this stuff you spray on your carpet then vaccum it up it supposed to kill fleas on carpet and furniture they also have a spray for pet beds too. if your cat doesnt go crazy when you give it a bath i would also do that about every two weeks it helps. make sure you sweep all carpeted floors regularly and wash anything the cat sleeps on like bedsheets in hot water it kills fleas. i do all of these things it works. its alot of work on your part but it benefits you and your cat.

Use frontline or some other recommended spray from the vet; do NOT use a flea collar or other Hartz products... they almost killed my cat. Then I found
www.hartzvictims.org
please visit: and use Frontline!
