Bootcamp is pretty obvious, you will most likely be assigned to attend an "A" school for training in whatever rating you decide.

The availability of base housing varies from base to base, but most have a waiting list , & as stated you will be paid BAQ.

As far as cheap housing...that varies too, but my wife & I had just married, were broke & found some suitable options. You will too!!

Don't let that stop you if you really want to join. Work on getting the work field you really want tho. Recruiters have some goodies available that they don't offer if not asked. Good Luck!!

not necessarily.

First: absolutely not during Boot Camp.
Second: only if your A school is longer than six months.. and maybe not even then.
Third: you must get acompanied PCS orders( actually pretty easy to get in the Navy, very few billets are Unacompanied, like Diego Garcia)
Fourth: whether or not you get base housing depends on the base, your paygrade, your BR entitlement, and the waiting list. I have seen people show up and get housing the same day, and I have seen 2 year long waiting lists.

The good news is, however, that being married you automatically qualify for Basic Allowance for Housing.. meaning you can live off base together.

Now, there is nothing rpevenmting your spouse from moving to where you are.. but in order to have the Navy pay for it, the orders have to be acompnaied. You will not be able to see her at all during Boot. During A school, there are stages, and you wouldn;t be allowed off base at first, then only during the day(no overnights) and then at the final stage would you get the weekends to do as you please.. BUT you still have to stand watches every few days(even on the weekends) and your gardes cannot slip, otherwise you will be put back into an earlier phase.

Bottom Line: probably not until you finish all of your training. This could be as long as a year.

Although you will start collecting benefits about week 5 at RTC for your wife, you will not be allowed to be together at RTC. After basic, depending on where your school is, I have helped many wives find apartments by their husbands school. You can not be assigned military housing, but you can received your BAH (housing allowance) and move your wife close by at YOUR expense. The Navy will not move her while you are in school. After school, when you choose your duty assignment, you will be able to obtain military housing if you like.

After basic training and your schooling she can. You probably will not be able to get base housing right off, you will draw BAQ plus SEP-RATS (seperate rations to cover food expenses). There are many low cost places that are acceptable to rent near the base.

not in basic, and when you get your permanent place, there prob wont be room there either. You get BAQ, research the amount and see if its satisfactory for you.
