John Kelty Deans (born in Johnstone 30 July 1946) - "Dixie" Deans was a Scottish footballer. He played centre-forward for Celtic in the 1970s, under the management of Jock Stein and his successor Billy McNeill, and was a prolific goal-scorer. He was nicknamed "Dixie" in honour of the great English centre-forward Dixie Dean.
"Dixie" signed from Motherwell in 1971 and played for Celtic until 1976. "Dixie" holds the post-war record of scoring six goals in a single game when he put six past goalkeeper Alan Rough against Partick Thistle. "Dixie" is also the only player in Scottish history to score two hat-tricks in Cup Finals when he lodged both against Hibernian.

Dixie Deans. Ask my good pal on Real radio Alan Rough he was supposed to be keeping goal and I know how upset he was. It could have finished him but like the trooper he is came back and starred for club and country.
