Okay... IKEMEN comes from the words 'iketeru men' (イケてる面)and the word 'men',(plural of man) (メン)...Together they mean iketeru men, or iketeru otoko...men having the iketeru side (イケてる面)....it is a slang, for guys that looks 'kakkoii', guys that look handsome....but not the cute boyish ,boyband type look.

if explained in japanese, we can simply say....イケてる面を持ってる男。Guys that look good. Guys that have the iketeru side.

For the meaning of iketeru....I dont know how to tell u, but it has a positive meaning, as in 'good', 'can be used', 'very nice'...its opposite word, iketenai means 'not good for usage' ,'not good or proper', 'not nice'.

Hope this helps.

It took me a moment to figure this out because I was thinking that the last kana was wrong.

Usually you can kind of sound out words that are written in Katakana and they sound like an English word (for instance, McDonalds in Japanese is Makudonarudo; Australia is Osotoraria). This word is (spelled in Romaji) ikemen. Sometimes Katakana words don't have an English root, but rather an German root or something (in Japanese, bread is called "pan" for the Spanish word), so maybe it's converted from a language other than English. I can't for the life of me make sense of "ikemen".

I even tried Babelfish, and it wouldn't translate it.

Hope you can get some help!

Yeah... "ikemen"... Which doesn't really make any sense to me. It's in katakana, which tells us that it's a word foreign to traditional Japanese, but as to what it's supposed to mean in any language... I'm at a loss.

"イケ(てる)" means cool.
"メン" means face.

"イケメン" means a handsome face. It's only used for a guy, never used for a woman.
