My joy is killed when I heard heart-breaking stories. My roommate works for CPS (Child Protective Services) and she has to hear sad stories all the time, and she sees videos of grown men beating toddlers. She tells me some stories over dinner (not really appetite inducing) and it can kill my whole day. It's horrible. That kills my joy.
