An expansion of the meaning of the word entertainment to include science and labour would be a good word for the meaning of life.

Oscar Wilde once said "Religion is the opium of the people" In these godless days it would be fair to say "Celebraties are the opium of the people" by the fact that most of them are so talentless that "normal" people believe they could be them.
