because it exceeds the maximum space allotted to it

Try these steps if System Restore does not appear to work:

1.

Ensure the System Restore service is running.

2.

Verify that you have enough free space on all your drives as required by System Restore. If the free space on any partition system restore is monitoring falls below 50 MB, System Restore will suspend and purge out all restore points to free up disk space. It will automatically reactivate when 200 MB+ free space is available.

3.

Examine event logs for any system restore-related errors that could help you identify the problem.

suspension can occur if:

A non-system drive with System Restore enabled has less than 50 MB of free disk space

A copy, delete, modify operation was made to a file monitored by System Restore. This typically causes System Restore to suspend across the system.

You may have installed a program or windows update that is preventing system restore from rolling back to a previous version. In general system restore should only be used as a last resort to sort problems. Never trust it as a means of removing viruses as viruses can be backed up in system restore too.

If it does that on every date either you have system restore switched off or have another form of file recovery on your computer. Have you tried doing a system restore in safe mode? Could also be a virus messing with your system so make sure your AV is up to date and run a scan on your computer. Can't think of anything else - good luck x

My system does that too. I just keep entering dates until the restore takes effect. I usually have good results if I go back 3 to 5 days or more.

Did you select bold type dates, these are the restore points. If there are no dates in bold type, then there are no restore points.

Either there is no data for that date or an update has been installed that cannot be rolled back for some reason.
