The 70's. The decision to switch to metric started in 1970. By 1975 weather was in Celsius. But it is one of the harder ones to get people to convert. Roadsigns were switch in 1977, and all consumer goods were in metric so you accept them. Gas was one of the first to switch as the 70's gas prices jumped, and prices per liter sounds so much cheaper.

Anyway, the big places you use temperature is heating your house, and cooking. But you don't buy a new room thermostat or a new kitchen oven very often. So the switch takes 10 or 20 years.

I believe it was 1975 when the metric system was implemented, at least in Ontario it was.
