It doesn't matter if it's an apartment, townhouse or house. It's a way to bring life to a new place and make it one's own. And one should always proper to bring a gift.

A bottle of wine and some inexpensive wine glasses is always good. Places like bed bath and beyond sell a two pack of stemless glasses that don't cost a lot but look cool.

The idea is something to personalize her place. A throw for her couch, a nice tablecloth, a vase, etc.

it doesnt matter what she moves into, i always have a house warming party even when i stay in a hostel... its just a way to get ur friends 2 help make ur new abode a home. A good present is something she can use in the apartment, picture frames, small ornaments and pieces.

NO!!!

You sure it isn't an open house - where people come over and see your new place?

No one should ever throw themselves a party in the hopes of getting gifts. Its just plain tacky.

I think it is a good idea, especially if it is her first flat. My Gran had one after her cottage burned partially. She was round seventy. It was a bit of a social thing as well...tea, cakes, biscuits, and a chance to show the place off.

Yeah why not. I think you should get her a plant, it's traditional. Or, if she's likely to kill it, get her a bottle of wine and some choccies.

Have a good house/appartment warming!

I would take something. Especially if it's her first apartment or a bigger place than her last one. It doesn't have to be big.
