wash it every other day ... washing too much takes away your natural oils and vitamins, try using leave in conditioners, or put conditioner in your hair at night, put a cap on to keep your pillows clean, rinse out in morning. Don't dye your hair for a while. If you do and don't like roots showing, don't dye all your hair, just the roots. Don't blow dry your hair, let it dry naturally. The less un-natural heat you put on it the better. Pools are bad because of the chlorine. Rinse out as soon as you get out. A lot of the shampoos that claim to make your hair better actually end up stripping good things out of your hair next time you wash, in effect damaging your hair while masking the effect with their own supplements, so when you stop using it your hair will look worse. something basic works great.

I used to room with a cosmologist, so I learned quite a bit. She consulted my mother who had some wacked out hair (dry/frizz/split ends would make it stick out 6"+ and her hair is straight), and within a couple weeks it started looking a whole lot better, now her hair looks almost completely undamaged.

Use mayo, yoghurt and egg and maybe a bit of henna. Guaranteed to make it soft. Use some coffee powder in the mixture so that it doesnt stink of raw egg. Leave on for 40 mins shampoo off and condition. This is a magic mix!

I would recommend shaving it all off.
That's the only way to beat dry, frizzy hair

cut it off and start over. I had a friend do this and her hair came back real nice and then she treated it right. not to much ... but right.
