trying to send a letter by mail.how many days would it take to arrive to La if it is sent from oakland,ca?

that depends on what service you want -how fast do you want
to get to LA, do you wanted next day delivery guaranteed>
then use the Express Mail service or do you want to get
priority service? then use the Post office priority service
or you just want to mail via first class mail?
now do you want someone to sign for your letter
and to track then you will need Express Mail
now if you want to track your letter don't forget you can
also use FedEx -we track all; packages -the post office
Only tracks express mail
with FedEx you can get to LA the next day by 8:30am,
(first overnight) by 10:30am (priority) 1 to 4pm (Standard)
then there also 2nd day and express saver
options as well
and all delivers are signed up (unless you tell us not get
a signature )

if you drop your mail to the mailbox before the pick up time(pickup time is listed on the mailbox), it would take one or two (the most) business days.
deliever time for regular post mail is NOT guaranteed though.
