Haven't been on a flight for several years, but I'm flying next week, just wondered if they do let you use laptops on them? I'm guessing no, as last time i wasn't even able to use a CD player.

You can use a laptop in cruise portion of the flight. But be sure that you disabled the WIFI feature (wireless internet) the last time you used it before bringing it onboard. Otherwise when you boot up the wireless receiver will be operating in flight, until you disable it. This is technically a violation. No devices which transmit a radio signal may be used during any portion flight.

Other than that, all electronic devices must be off from the time the doors are closed until the crew announces that you may turn them on (at 10,000 ft altitude, I think.)
Then all electronic devices must be shut off when you prepare for landing. This will also be announced by the crew. (This is the time when you have to straighten your seatback and stow the tray table.)
Some airlines are so laptop friendly that they provide electrical connections (often cigarette lighter style) in the first class seats.

Nicole, right it is the deal. you would be on a 5-hour flight. there is no place to plug on your computing device. How long does your battery final? no longer 5 hours, yet in all hazard purely approximately ninety minutes or so, which will pass away you with a ineffective computing device and 3 a million/2 hours to pass. Do the clever concern, and take a e book or 2 with you. Regards, Dan

I have used my laptop on a recent flight and had no problem. Have also used a walkman before without a problem. Go ahead and take your stuff. You should be able to use it.

Laptops are okay. CD players are probably okay also; things change.

Yes, you can use your lab top computer. You will probably have to shut it off when they make you turn off the electrical devices.
