This is a great supplement to help Atopy> http://springtimeinc.com/product/88/2
This is a symptom of canine Atopy.. This is a good site to help you understand and deal with this condition..
http://www.petalia.com.au/Templates/StoryTemplate_Process.cfm?specie=Dogs&story_no=1580
At this season, it is likely to be pollen related or mold/mildew..But household cleaners often aggravate the condition..chemicals such as Swiffer Wet jet, Carpet cleaners, air fresheners, etc..
It may be of help to feed a food that doesn't contain corn or wheat.
Solid Gold, Innova and Wellness, as well as several others have duck/rice or venison/potato formulas that are helpful for dogs with allergies..these three are available at most local pet supply shops.

My dog, long ago, was licking his paws, rubbing his body on the carpet, scratching. A friend told me that allergy to wheat can cause this. And lots of dogs have this problem with wheat.
So I started buying dog foods without wheat and sure enough within about 10 days he was calm...no more licking or scratching.
It's worth a try rather then spending $$ at the Vet. If my family gives my dog snacks with wheat in it he starts that old routine in about 24 hours. It could be anxiety but try the wheat thing anyway.

Usually the paw licking is caused by an allergy. The vet keeps changing her diet to try and see if she has a food allergy. However, she could also have an environmental allergy. The best thing you can do is have your vet perform an allergy test so you can find out exactly what your dog is allergic to. It'll save you a lot of time and money.

Most would say allergy, but I have a dog who does this too not only to her feet, but everyone feet in the house. She doesn't lick her paw red and there isn't any hair loss so I assume it's just a fetish.
If your dog licks them raw it's a allergy...keep trying different foods, preferrably one with an unusual protein like duck, venision, buffalo, or elk. All of these available at timberwolf organics website.

My dog used to do this all the time. She would do it so much that the hair on her paws would turn reddish in color. We don't know why she did it, but one day she just stopped. Dogs can form nervous habits just like people do. Maybe it just helps her de-stress. If you are worried, it wouldn't hurt to get an opinion from another vet.

Your dog should eat dog food with some sort of meat base. Their digestive system cannot handle greens for an extended period of time. They are canines, not herbivores.
Environmental allergy is a good thought.

Sounds like allergies to me....they can do blood tests to tell you exactaly what she is allergic to....could be wheat, corn, anything....our dog has allergies and the only thing that helped was Eukanuba natural food....(Natures Choice?) It is the bag with the brown strip on it....good luck, allergies are miserable for pups....

It's either an allergy or it could just be compulsive behaviour. It sounds daft, but have you had her ears checked? Some dogs lick their paws when they have ear problems.
