Its really hard to say because everyone is different.
Based on the area and the type of movement and trauma it gets (from clothes, bending over, etc.) I wouldn't expect to keep it forever or for more than a 6 months to a year (but that can vary from person to person so don't take my word for it)
At the first sight of rejection, you should have your piercer remove the bar to reduce scarring and pain. To prolong the piercing and its life, make sure you don't play with it, don't apply pressure, don't wear tight clothing and hope that your piercer used properly fitted jewelry for your body and the piercing and pierced it at a good depth, not to shallow or deep. Also keep the area clean to reduce risk for infections, boils and abscess formations.

Depends on a lot of factors: what kind of jewelry did you use, how deep the piercer went, and most importantly, how your body responds. None of my surface piercings ever migrated or rejected and I kept them for quite some time. Other people have thier's reject in a month. Just make sure that if you see it start to reject, take it out. It'll leave awful scarring and can hurt a lot during pregnancy.

It all depends on the person and how you treat it. If you clean it correctly with sea salt soaks and don't abuse it, you can keep it as long as possible. But then also some non-surface piercings reject without reason. So there's no way to tell when it comes to surface piercings.
Good luck though. :)

it depends on what kind of jewellery u have in it, there are specific items now for surface piercings that dont reject, its like a sort of staple shape and the two balls sit on the surface, having said all that i have had a surface piercing with a banana bar in it for over 8 yrs now, good luck
