how does one prevent shoes from smelling on hot days

Keep your feet super clean. Wear cotton socks if possible so your toes can breathe! If there's no ventilation in your shoes, they will get hot, sweaty, and smellllllllyyyyy...
Avoid leather shoes if possible. If your shoes DO get sweaty and stinky, leave them outside overnight * not when its raining *. The sun will dry them and "bake" out the odorous bacteria. You can also use some powders that act as an antiperspirant and deodorant for you feet. I think Tinactin has something like that.

Bare feet stink when they come in contact with leather. Keep them clean as possible, and stockings are not a drag, just pantyhose. I wear stockings every day and never have a problem, but I can't stand pantyhose for more than a couple of hours.

two things diet and environment . First a vegetarian avoid meat chicken fish and dairy produces less noxious by products and keep hydrated a gallon of water a day . Second fungicides and changing to different shoes each day so they can air should help considerably. don't forget to bath soaking occasionally as you like
