If you are a really big person, it is doable. I've seen contestants on the biggest loser lose a crazy amount of weight in just one week. But the bigger you are, the more weight you are going to lose at one time. If you are only 30 pounds overweight, I don't think it is a good idea to push your self to lose all 30 in 30 days. I remember in college I gained the freshman 15 plus and extra 15! lol So I was 30 pounds overweight and I thought I did good by taking it all off in 3 months. To me that was quick. Whatever you do, don't starve yourself and make sure to get some cardio. (If you are asking for yourself)

The only person I have seen lose 30 pounds or more in 30 days due to a diet was about 6'5" tall, weighed over 350 pounds, and had heart problems.
He lost 37 pounds in a little over a week, but that was because of his high metabolism, and mainly water loss from having excess water accumulated around his heart and abdominal organs.
I lost 45 pounds in 2 weeks, but most of it was water weight that I gained during the last month of pregnancy. I had pre-eclampsia.
It is physically impossible for a healthy person to lose a pound a day. You must reduce your caloric intake enough to consume 3500 calories less than what you need....just to lose one pound.
So, if you weigh about 150 pounfd, and it takes 2000 calories to maintain your present weight, and you cut down to a daily caloric level of 1500 calories, you will lose 1 pound in one week.
If you are obese, you could lose more, but if you lose more than 2 pounds per week, you are likely to gain it back pnce you start eating more.(anything more than that is water weight loss).
I lost 60 pounds in 6 months easily by walking an hour a day, light weight lifiting, and cutting sugar and junkfood out of my diet. This was apart from the weight loss (above) from the pregnancy.

Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span. No food or drink in between the food and not more than three meals a day, unless u r diabetic. NOT POSSIBLE.

Yes, losing 30 lbs may seem like a lot, but don't diet, do a lifestyle change. You'll be surprised at how much better you'll feel. 30 lbs can safely be lost in 16 weeks at the least.
