more aggressive than normal domestic cats?
I've cared for a few long term cats in the past, and ready for one more. no kids in the house and no other pets.
I just need to know that I won't wake up to him/her standing on my chest licking their lips... or deciding my foot is a good play toy at 2 in the morning and wandering off with a toe.

Maine Coon Cats are the Best Cats in the entire cat community! You will NOT wake up with the cat on your chest licking it's lips or having any thoughts about your feet to begin with. This cat is very independent and only wants love if you want love. This cat does however, get along extremely well with other animals. It runs with the coon pack at night. I am not sure what area you are in but it does like to run wild at night so you must be sure to let he, or she out. Now, mine was a female so i am not sure of the male habits. I would say GO FOR IT!

Yes, I too have a female Maine Coon cat. She's the most loving cat. I find her laying on me when I wake up in the morning, but never with a finger or a toe in her mouth. LOL. I've got 2 males, not Maine Coon, and she is the princess of the house. I've had her for nearly 10 years and she's never bitten me or been aggressive towards me in any way. Good luck!

I have a male Maine coon and he can be very aggressive. He will only let you pet him when he is in the mood for it but when he has had enough he ll let you know with a growl and hiss. Kinda funny. Yes at nights sometimes we will see him hanging out with raccoons. I think he shows them where the cat food is. Ha ha! His favorite place is sleeping in my bathroom sink and he drinks lots of water.

Maine Coon's are wonderful cats and I have never seen one be aggressive at all. They are playful, curious, and probably the most intelligent domesiticated feline. They make you work for their love unlike any other cat, and you will truly appreciate having one in your home.
