smart answer: lack of lubrication.
serious: True love does not hurt. it is the lack of love that can hurt. when you think you are in love with someone and they dump on you it hurts because you have fallen into a state of lack of love where the object of affection no longer returns your love.
that is why your love must be guarded for someone who is worthy of your love. that way if and when you get dumped again you will not regret the pain.
As always i suggest you start with love for a diety and what that diety has done for you. In different religions it is different things but in most i would suspect the the diety is responsible for giving you life and then giving you holy scriptures to light your path on this flesh experience thing.
Contrary to popular belief we were not made in a cookie cutter. Each one of us is as precious as the other, if we choose to be.
So just because one very special person dumps you and breaks your heart doesnt mean that everyone will do that.
It is better to have love and lost than to have never loved at all.
I'm not sure who first said this, but what it means to me is being in love is better than becoming a crusty old soul who has no compassion for anything or anyone around them.

Because we desperately want everything to be perfect between ourselves and the person we love. When things go wrong that sense of balance goes way outta whack and we freak out. No one can be perfect, though, and that is the most important thing to keep in mind when dealing with a broken heart.

because you sometimes expect too much of that person you love
you want that person to do this for you, do that for you
and if your partner wasn't going that way, you'r just disappointed, hurt.
love sometimes sucks, which i perfectly agree. Don't get hurt if you have a big heart. you need to able to deal with your love wisely and i know for sure that goes along with time..
take a deep breath and think love simple.
