Saving image file in Photoshop?

From time to time, I run into a problem that I am allowed to safe a photo image ONLY in PSD, RAW, PNG, TIFF formats, but cannot save it in many other formats, such as JPEG.

Why?
How can I save an image in JPEG under such situation?

(However, in most situations, it allows me to save into all formats. )

This can happen if you are in a mode that is not jpg compatible.Go to "image", "mode" and be sure that "indexed color" is not checked. This is the one used to create gif files. If it is in this, the choose RGB instead and you can save in jpg after that.
