Does anyone have a recipe for cookies that may contain a preservative of some kind? All the recipes I use end up great that night, but the next day the cookies never end up being even half as good. But the ones from the supermarket or the "Cookie" stores in the mall can last for a week... what do I have to add?

preservatives are to keep them from getting mouldy

the cookie stores in the malls don't use preservatives - they sell their cookies fresh

preservatives are not the way to go

Here is a delicious recipe for chocolate chip cookies:

Ingredients:
Oven Temp: 375 F-180 C
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp Vanilla essence
1 cup maida
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips (you get them in packets, or you can chop semi-sweet chocolate into tiny chips)

Method: Mix the butter, sugar and egg. Add vanilla.

Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add this to the butter mixture and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips and mix well.

Shape dough into rounds and place on an ungreased baking tray at least 1" apart.

Press with the base of a glass or any flat tool.

Bake in a pre-heated oven for about 15 minutes.

Serve or cool and store in an airtight jar.

sorry i don't know that one...but i do work at a cookie store. we also dont use preservatives and we do bake our cookies fresh every day. when people ask us what the best way to store the cookies is...we say in an air tight container ...and if you know that your not going to eat them within a week, freeze the cookies..try not to refrigerate them..before eating the cookies you can either put it in the microwave at low power for a little while or you can leave them out at room temperature for about an hour.

Add extra oil and corn syrup. Wrap each cooking individually in saran wrap.
