It could be psychotic depression, it could schizophrenia, it could a number of things, but it's important to go to your doctor to rule out any organic causes of your hallucinations (brain tumours, etc).

Coupled with depression, stress can be the triggering factor causing the hallucinations. Sometimes medication used to treat depression can cause hallucinations. Psychosis is when hallucinations become a person's reality. See your doc and see if an alternative medication can help you. May you get better soon.

I have depression myself but have never hallucinated. I've never heard voices or any of that. The best thing to do is go to your family doctor and he can refer you to someone. It's all due to chemicals in the brain and they have medications for that now. Hope you are better soon.

it could be depression linked with borderline personality disorder. there are a few personality disorders that have this as a trait, too. it all depends which one or few of these things you correspond to the most. most family doctors dont know enough about these illnesses so ask them for a reference to someone who is qualified. Diagnosis is usually one of the hardest parts. but its not about the title, its about knowing what treatment you would need and going from there. i wish you the best of luck!!!:)

It probably is best for a psychiatrist to determine the cause. They are the most skilled physicians when it comes to diagnosing these types of health issues. You can always call a mental health line in your area and speak to someone about it, and they can help you find a qualified psychiatrist to help you, as well as assist in finding low cost care if you need it. I wish you the best.
