a 'believer' molested me at camp when I was 14. there is no god who would allow this to happen. why do they do this sh!t? everyone gives drug addicts a hard time, but never the true criminals. if he hadnt died of cancer when I was 20 I would have killed him when I returned to that town
edit: Esther J (further down) yes you have our attention, but you think it is funny that these things happen to others? you are the exact reason why your belief is flawed. you people rejoice at hostility and denounce natural empathy to help each other. you only help yourselves. bigot. perhaps you will think differently when your children in the future get molested at camp.

Oh. Well, I live in the Netherlands. We don't get much religious controversy and stuff, I have to look to my cousins in the US for that.
Personally? There is a church right across the street from me. Big'un. Every sunday morning: THE BELLS. THE BELLS. (cue weird shuffling walk).
Seriously, why do religions seem exempt from basic courtesy/sound laws? If I were to play my stereo at the same volume as those friggin' bells you can bet the police would be at my doorstep in a heartbeat.
One a scale from 1 to inquisition I realise this might not seem like a big deal ;)
(oh, the mosque on the other side of my house does the same thing at different times)

Christianity? Nothing.
Weird Christians? *shudder*
1. There was the street preacher that stood right outside my university's boundaries (early nineties) with his little preacher kid (who was probably 6!) screaming at everyone in earshot. We were whores (even nuns lol This was a Catholic University), sinners, doomed to hell, blah blah.
2. I made the mistake of going to church with a "friend".
This turned into a "discussion" with a friend of this "friend". That girl got me so pissed off I yelled at her that I would rather be in hell with the non-Christian babies than heaven with someone like her.
I think all this was just a ploy to get more members. You should have heard the hellfire preaching that Church service.
3. I spent the vacation visiting another friend I had not seen in years. This turned into the Church visits to hell, and, it included a night of "questioning", two nights of watching Pentecostals in action, and one night of an attempted faith healing of my neck (I wouldn't let her knock me over lol).
All this, of course, has been balanced by the sane Christians I have known over the years. So, don't even go there with the "That's why you are an Atheist" line. No, I was one since I can remember. I just keep a wide Berth from some people. LOL
Edited to add:
Hey Esther, Why would you want people to have this sort of image of your religion? Is it one of those "any advertisement is good advertisement" kind of things? That's good? Wow
Oh, and, I WAS irritated when these things happen. Now I think it is hilarious.... and well, really, really pitiful.

I've told this story so many times on this board I fell like a broken record. Anyway, six years ago I wasn't all that concerned about religion. I didn't think that there was anything wrong with folks who try to share their faith. I personally would politely turn them away and move on. There was this one group of guys who were evangelizing in my neighborhood and they would catch me at the same time and place every day, at the bus stop on my way to work. I'd turn them away and move on each time. Then one day the leader of the group became enraged, and they all jumped on me and beat the living hell out of me. All of my ribs were broken, and my face had completely swollen up to the point where I wasn't recognizable. I slipped into a coma that lasted for two days. I healed up and the cops caught the guys who did it. But when we went to trial, the charges were dismissed because the prosecutor forgot to forward a piece of evidence to them. They all praised Jesus for being set free, and they didn't seem the least bit concerned for what happened.
This is why I am confrontational towards Christians. They have to be confronted to see that they're hurting people no matter how they shine it.

Laptop Jesus, Christianity must pay for her sins just as any bad
person must pay for their repeated and willful sins.
They mislead in their teachings, they don't obey gods word,
or even teach it anymore. They're about rock concerts, and
give they're own personal experiences rather than teach from gods word the bible. They support and promote wars and sanctions, likely cause they get rich off the blood of innocent lives. Don't make me go on. Your going to be torn apart very soon !

some Christians are morons. No offense but seriously some are. One of this friend of mine started asking me that why I ( basically my parents) worship a statue and she also thought that people who worship different gods arent truly religious. She was like "God can not be seen. People who think that god took birth on earth are morons". I mean everybody has different faith but of course God is one. I mean cant you respect all religions equally and follow your own. It creeps me out when people start making religion so overrated. I mean isn't humanitarian values more important then some made up religious belief. Jesus never told me that he Will send me to hell then who the hell is a stupid human to tell me that?

Broke in my home and called me names while I was still wrapped up in bandages. They called me evil and a witch and a defiler and names I cant print here. They told me I should have died and being burnt and missing a leg and a hand wasn't good enough for me.
Onward Christian soldier?
Of course I cant blame them completely, It was Muslims that blew me up.

I live in the middle of the Canadian bible belt.
Wiccans are not allowed to hold their ritual celebrations in the public park, but Christians are allowed to.
I can't wear my pentacle in college (or I have to hide it in my clothing) because its a disruption while the Christians are allowed to wear their cross.
In college, Wiccans were denied the chance to hold Yule ritual in the Atrium because it was labelled a "disruption" while the Christians were allowed to hold their Christmas mass int he Atrium.
Not to mention the number of times I've been followed down the street by Christians preaching to me, even after I lied and said I was Catholic just to get them out of my hair.
And thats just the beginning but I don't want to keep having to type this all out.
Honestly, the religion isn't the problem. Its the followers that are nasty. If they could learn to keep the religion to themselves, we'd get along fine.

It left me asking more questions... It is not something you can judge just after meeting someone or attending one church service... if you are looking at people and judging them because they represent God to you, you are looking in the wrong place... I am a Christian, don't look at me, look at God. I am a failable human being that loves Jesus but also who sins, no one is perfect, we all try to do our best but we all fail horribly sometimes... Only Jesus is perfect... I pray Christianity makes you hungry to learn more as it is known to do... if it has not and has left a bad taste in your mouth, you have not met Jesus but instead man... seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened... God is awesome and He will fill you up unlike fleeting happiness we believe we have acquired today...there's a difference between deep down lasting joy and happiness... I dare you to find Him...

Well, Christianity hasn't done a thing to me. But Christian followers have pushed their religion upon me as if I were forced to believe in only one thing. The ones I've met do not want to hear what others think, they only want to say their side. They do not care.
