CAG's seem to talk a little better than the Timneh's, but they both are exceptional in speech. The main differences I see in the two are that CAG's are a little bigger than the TAG's.

one million. The Timneh and the "Congo" (a misnomer) are subspecies of another. The Congo became chanced on first, thereby making it the nominate (or, named species). Upon the invention of the Timneh, it became the sub-nominate, and the two have been subspecies of another. 2. Congos will initiate speaking at a pair of million 12 months. some AG people say that Timnehs will initiate at around 6 months. a great style of situations, the two subspecies will initiate with an truly robotic-sounding voice. that should substitute. 3. There are no "speaking ensures." I even have 4 Congos, one that's an truly stable talker, 2 that are ok talkers, and one that not often talks. i like them each of a similar, and the all have features that are basically as spectacular as speaking.

New Parrot Owner Advice: READ as much as you can
and then just get to know your bird. You already have the Timneh, so what difference does it make? Having experience with both, I would say the only difference is that the CAG will mimic a voice exact to the speaker of the words.
You will get out of your bird what you put into the bird. The more time and inter action you have the better socialized the bird will be. Keeping that in mind, allow the bird to get to know other people, just in case someone else has to care for it in your absence.

i have both timneh and congo. the timneh always seems to get the worst between the two grey. i think most of those people probably only have experience with the congo because their advice is not always correct. the timneh is equally as smart as the congo. the only diference i know is the congo is larger and their voices are a little stronger that the timneh. i got my timneh first, he is 4 years old, i cant get him to shut up not that i want him too anyway. my congo, talks when he feels like it and never says much when other people are around. i have a 8 month old timneh that said his first couple words right after christmas. i did notice both my timneh started to talk sooner than my congo. of course at all depends on the bird itself on when or if they learn to talk. but honestly, my timneh started talking sonner and my oldest timneh talkes, plays and interact better than my congo does.

Psittacus erithacus (your bird) is reputed to be the better talker. I have had my little man for almost 10 years now (since his babyhood). They begin to speak later than many other species. But once they get started…they are bossy birds by nature. They actually commandeer you around. There is no better parrot as far as I am concerned. The very best there is but NOT easy to take good care of. Email me if you want to chat (tomorrow). Some of my favorite articles:

I have a Congo Grey too. I bought her at 6 weeks and took her home at 4 months, she'll be 9 months on February 9th. She has just begun to talk, actually she's been garbling for about two months, sometimes I worried about what she was saying under her breath. But I repeat certain phrases to her all the time things like "I love you" and "Hello". Both of those phrases she spoke this week and quite frequently too. I didn't expect her to talk before a year, but I was hopeful.
They are soooo smart. I've taught mine to identify colors, shapes and sizes already and she rarely makes a mistake. Knowing how easily she picked that up gave me the confidence to know she was smart and would want to talk. I'd be happy to tell you how I did it if you want to e-mail me. Also, yours is pretty young, make sure she's eating enough. At that age, mine loved a piece of watermelon, I also fed her a slice of red pepper, broccoli any veggie or fruit I knew was safe for her I hand fed her. Now she will eat any and all her fruits and veggies, pellets and turns her head away if you try to feed her anything not natural to her, like a french fry. There's so much I'd like to share with you, write if you can. Enjoy your new baby.

.I have a Congo he talks like crazy every day he picks up something new the secret is to work with him of course he will pick up things on his own but the more you talk to him the more he'll learn. You now have a partner for life he will pick his mate. my husband wanted our Grey but he is more than defiantly MY bird he loves my husband but goes nuts when I'm around. Grey's have the tendency to be a one person bird. good luck with your bird we have so much fun with ours we now have 14 birds from cocktails to macaws ( all pets) so if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
