What exactly is a good man? What are women looking for? Would you know a good man if you met one?

I'd know a good one. I have one! A decent man is caring, not always out for himself, honest, responsible, intelligent, sensitive (not overly sensitive, mind you), open minded & supportive.

Thats an easy one.
The reason it is so hard to find a decent man is because each woman has a different view on what a decent man is. What works for the goose doesnt always work for the gander. Everyone has some decent aspects but, also have some that maybe questionable depending on the judge.

Not necessarily handsome but interesting. An independent person who has a job, own place, a wide variety of interests, knowledgable about the world and interested in learning more, a good sense of humour, able to laugh at himself yet is confident and has a set of principles that he believes in, kind and caring when needs to be, tolerant of others and their different beliefs etc. May I say that this is exactly what I would expect from a decent woman also.

If a man shows he has actual "feelings," (but not a wimp), successful, shows he cares where he ends up, has a true heart (not a player heart), these are only Some examples of a decent man.
Would I know it if I met one? Yes. Only have met two in this lifetime. Extremely rare to find a "good one."

Hmmm …a decent man, as a being woman, according to me.
1. First of all he respects you and your views.
2. Accept you whatever you are(who you are. with all your good or bad qualities)
3. He has to be loving and caring.
4. He has to be Honest, Trustworthy and Sincere.
5. Shares everything and doesn’t hide anything from you.
6. Take you as an equal.
7. Who knows how to romance with his lady, what makes a woman feel so proud on her man.
8. Remember all important days and dates to you.(cards and gifts and flowers are not important, just simple wish with all passion is required;)
9. Who always stand beside you.
10. Who doesn’t forget to appreciate you, and know how too? When you do something good to please him.
11. Doesn’t make fun of you in front of others.
12. Who listen to you and take you seriously.
13. For whom you are the most beautiful woman. And doesn’t cheat you.
14. You can talk to him hours an hours.
15. You never get bored with him.
16. Who doesn’t drink or gamble.
Yes I know one man with all these (and a lot more then that) qualities. And as you know it’s hard to find a guy like that, so I didn’t let him go. 4 years ago we got married. And I become homemaker. He thinks that his duty is to earn money and provide bread and butter, and mine as a wife is to change a house into HOME SWEET HOME. We still love each other, and its increasing day by day. Still if I am not around, busy in the kitchen, he shouts loudly, like a kid ,” Hey Fari I love you” please don’t laugh on me.:) this is how much he loves his wife. I cant have kids, but I heard him talking to his mom, that having kids is a blessing from GOD, but if you cant have them its ok, more important is to have loving and caring life partner. What if I had 4 kids and my married life could be hell. Hearing that all from him i feel so proud on him and loving him more, waiting for miracle from my GOD to give us a baby. Observing other couples around me, I feel very lucky and so thankful to GOD that he is my husband, and I always pray to HIM (GOD) for his long life and good health. i know the Good man are RARE but they are still here, on planet earth;) go women find them. Honest, be themselves. Not a cheater. Trustworthy, sincere. A guy who will honor a woman's wishes and respect her, treat her the way that she should and would like to be treated. Show her the world. Do things with her whether it is going out or staying in. Don't ignore her or make excuses why you can't see her. Treat her like a princess.

A man who has a good head on his shoulders, with a job (I didnt say a ton of money but a job to support himself), a man who is honest, a man who is respectful to others, one that has a goal in life.

If I am not a perfect woman, I DON'T expect a perfect man. So to me a good man = not a womaniser, not a gambler, not a smoker and I think there are many in this world.

perfect man?
he must like sports, beer, partying, food, bbq's, farting, lounging around for entire weekends, sleeping late, bald!!, personal hygiene must be tossed out the window, throwing things, a foul mouth, and a love of cars.
oh oh, he also has to think he is the best and knows how to fix anything, even electrical wiring even though the only thing he knows how to wire is the plug to the outlet.
