my family employs a mexican girl that does not speak spanish. i speak very little english. she only talks to me when i talk to her. i make her laugh and we have somewhat good conversations. when i see her in the kitchen she avoids eye contact with me. what does she do this. it is akward.

maybe she is shy or maybe she avoids eye contact because it's hard for her to talk to you because you two speak different languages.

It is a cultural thing ................
It's actually disresectful to make eye contact with authority or "the boss"
