Yes. It's so stupid, but I get really, really nervous and uptight if there are balloons around. Weird, I know. I don't like them! I can't relax or focus on anything else b/c I'm too worried about one popping suddenly. As long as there are no balloons within 30 feet of me, I'm ok.

A phobia is a fear or dread of something, and can be of different severity for different people. They can be scary enough to take over a person's behavior even though they know it's not logical. The fear is real and they have to do what they can to avoid the danger. There are people who can help a patient learn the cause and/or learn slowly that the fear is not necessary. - or not as bad, anyhow. Depends on the person.

Phobias are debilitating and do hinder the person's life if afflicted. It's an unnatural terror of organic and inorganic things. Hypnosis seems to help many and so does confrontational therapies. Have a healthy year.

Oh yeah. public speaking! When i was in high school i had to do an oral presentation in front of the class(health). Which only had 6 or 7 people in it and i was on friendly terms with all of them. Well before i got up to do my presentation i was looking forward to it and even volunteered. However, as soon i was at the front of the class my heart started racing, my throat started to tighten up to the point where i felt like i was choking and my eyes started to water(like when you get sick and you cant control you tears).
Now that I'm in college i tend to select bigger classes because i know that there is less of a chance for oral presentations. Unfortunately, i cant avoid my English class and we have to do an oral presentation at the end of the semester, which i think about all the time!

Phobia... I really scared of ghosts and high places. Is that a phobia? I don't know whether it's a phobia or not, but it's quiet disturbing sometimes. Sometimes, I try to make myself calm by saying that there's no ghosts, it's ok to stay in high places-nothing will happen.
