Since I was a kid i was always made fun of my ears. They stick out and are very noticeable.I am now 15 I have been told and agreed with many people that I would look better and feel better If I had them put back normally. In a moth I am getting surgery to normalize them.I am just really really scared of anesthesia.I have heard freaky stories of people not waking up etc.I have never had surgery before or anesthesia. Is anesthesia dangerous? the operation would really help me in my social life is it worth the risk?
Thanks for you help.

yes people do die as a result of complications from the medications.
some people wake up and can suffer from anxiety that can be severe. other problems can happen as well
you are 15 this is a very simple operation the doctor that gives you the drugs to sleep is the highest paid doctor of them all . they know what they are doing and they check you out very well before and after .
you do have to be told about the risks its the law.
you however are not likely to have the least bit of trouble .
you may well look much better after this operation i have seen people who have had it done and it does make a big difference and is so simple .
most important thing about the operation is do what you are told no food no drink means nothing not one thing .
that and relax if your really upset then let the doctor know and he can give you some meds to calm you down before you even go in the theater

Yes there are risks but fatalities are very rare. Walking or driving across the street have many more fatalities than anesthesia. I would say that it would certainly be worth the risk if it would make you feel better about yourself. When you wake up though you will still be the same person. Your inner beauty is much more important than what you look like but if it really matters that much to you I would recommend you do it.

It is rare, but yes, a person can have a fatal reaction to the anesthesia. However, there is an anesthesiologist monitoring you, plus lots of other doctors and nurses caring for you as well, so if anything at all starts to happen, they can help you and stop you from dying.

The most common side effect of anesthesia is constipation. That does go away. Another side effect is nausea.

Don't worry, you'll be okay.

There are rare times when people do have reactions to anaesthesia, but not always. During your surgery, there will be many qualified doctors and personnel around who are well trained. If this is a major concern, you can always address your concerns with the doctor, and anaesthesiologist. Good luck with your surgery.

Yea people do have complications, but its very rare. And that ear surgery might only need local anesthesia which is much less risky.

it can be dangerous but at your age i doubt you have heart trouble, high blood pressure and all the things that make it so bad for you, i have had several surgeries, long story, and the anethesia has never hurt me at all, only rare people are allergic to it. if your parents ever had trouble with it, you might be more wary, but im sure you will be just fine.
