Finished both rounds of meds, but feel ear pressure, vertigo, nausea. Primary sent me to ENT he suggested PT for vestibular rehab. Feel weak, can only stay awake for few hours, then need to lie down. Plus, strange taste in mouth, kinda like metal. Anyone else ever had this reaction and to which drug

having an inner ear infection can throw you off balance for sure. we all have areas in our ears that we use for equalibrium and maintaining balance. being off balance can certainly make you feel nauseated. more than likely this is secondary to your infection. the antibiotic will help ya as will the steroid.

as for that strange feeling in your mouth, i bet you feel like your tasting metal. its the side effect from the steroid prednisone. it wont hurt you, just one of the effects you may experience.

I have not had this condition, but I do know others who have had similar. It sounds like an inner ear infection... this can cause severe vertigo and nausea. Some people are incapable of walking or driving. If the Avelox did not clear it up, the ENT might give you a different antibiotic. Another common med for the symptoms of imbalance is Antivert, although it can make you very sleepy. The ENT can also work you up for other conditions that mimic inner ear vestibulitis, such as Meniere's Disease and Acoustic Neuroma. Both are treatable. Make your appt soon with ENT and ask about both aforementioned conditions.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!

You know, it doesn't actually sound like it's the drug. When you get ear infections, or something messes with your ear, it can throw everything off. You become nauseauted, off balance, bad taste. It all ties into your ear. But if you have a question about your meds and your side effects, go to www.webmd.com in the top bar, there is an option for like a-z stuff, if you go there you can look at a-z drugs, and if you type in the drug your taking, all of it's information will come up. So you can see if what your experiencing is normal. Hope things work out for you. Have an awesome day! :) Hope you feel better!

It may not be related to the medication at all but more related to your ear infection. Yes I have had those symptoms before when I had fluid behind my eardrum. When you do have an infection or fluid it interferes with your equilibrium and makes you nauseated. When I had this problem I could actually bring on a dizzy spell by laying down and turning my head to the left or holding my head back. My doctor suggested that I take a decongestant for the fluid behind my eardrum and also said that it could be a permenant problem called Meniers Syndrome (which is treatable but not always successfully). Thank goodness after about a month of taking a decongestant every day it finally went away. Good luck to you. I know how miserable a feeling it is.

Avelox made me feel like my chest was going to fly apart with the heavy heart pounding. metalic taste in mouth as well with avelox. Prednisone made me feel like a million bucks when used alone...never used with avelox. hope that helps some.

Prednisone is a steroidal drug which can cause nausea. The ear infection itself can cause your other symptoms. Get well soon.
