I wonder at your "we." I don't need to pass through a priest of any kind, but I'm not into confession as a style, either, so it's probably a moot question.

This entire ritual is very different in other religions, you know. The confessional and the seal of the confession is quite uniquely Catholic, for good or ill. Other ministers and rabbis and mentors of various sorts do in fact end up hearing and discussing their people's intimate secrets, and they are bound to rules of confidentiality which are much like those for psychologists and other counselors. But confession with a seal so strong priests have died rather than reveal what they know? That's unique.

As I say, for good or ill.

The tradition of confessing to a priest is a corruption of the truth. When one takes a spiritual master (like Jesus), he teaches us how to properly worship God by using himself as the example. We worship the spiritual master, and he perfects the worship through instruction. In this way, we learn how to perfectly worship God. (For instance, in order to become a teacher, one must first please the professor.) This has gradually given way to simply confessing our sins and doing some pennance.

I don't confess to take communion...more than half the priests are perverted child molesters. I confess to the lord himself.

Of course, if you think that confession is useful at all. But that's not Catholic dogma -- it's just common sense; the two often have little to do with each other.

Because it is an ancient tradition in the churches search for power through knowledge. If it knows things about you then it can persay blackmail you. I'm not saying that this is common today but it probably was way back in the medieval times and the Renaissance.

Jesus is our advocate before the Father. The veil was rent in the temple and it has opened our path to God. That is not to say that you cannot seek Godly advice from elders of the church.

You can. In fact, the Bible speaks against calling your priest "Father", as there is only one "Father" who is in Heaven.

Jesus never said that the only way to God is through a church leader.

FORGET THE PRIESTS!

The Bible tells us WE ARE ALL PRIESTS.

Dump the CULT and become a TRUE CHRISTIAN!

We Confess only to THE GOD/JESUS!
(Not even his earthly mom is involved!)

You do not need a Priest to mediate between you and God.

"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." -1 Timothy 2:5

For sure you should. That's why Jesus died on the cross, to open the way to God the Father.
