How do I get rid of Oil paint on a canvas?

I have been painting a portrait and I did a mistake that I want to get rid of. It's still a bit wet and would urgently want to know how to get rid of it.

If it is wet. you can scrape it off with a palet knife. If it is too dry, you can paint right over it.
You can also wipe it with a rag and painter's turpentine. None of these methods will get rid of all the color, so let it dry to the touch ( it will dry much faster when the bulk of paint is removed) and paint over it. Hope this helps you.

Hi, your problem should be relatively easy to correct because it is still wet. If it is a small area try "lifting" it off the surface using a brush dipped in to turpentine or a mixture of turpentine and linseed oil and blot the area with a clean rag. Good luck!

First, take a cloth and carefully wipe the mistake off, if it will come off. Use a little turpentine or paint thinner. That should take it off. You may take off some of the underpainting. You should be able to paint over it unless it'sblack and didn't come out.

My only advice, as a painter who did lots of mistakes myself, is to take another canvas and try again. If you wipe it you will create a splotch, and nothing will help making it clean again.
You can eventually wait until your paint is dry, then put Titanium white over your mistake and then when the white is dry, correct the mistake but still the "retouch" will be visible.
