Buddhism without Belief by Stephen Batchelor
Wherever You Go, There You Are, by Jon Kabat-Zinn
Buddha, by Karen Armstrong
And any of the introductory books written by Thich Nhat Hanh
And regarding PH's answer above mine, he is assuming that Buddhism is culturally based. There is a lot of eastern philosophy in Buddhism, but just because you may have a lot to learn about it, this doesn't mean such learning is impossible.
You will find that there are things to discover about yourself in the process. When I was learning Latin, and later German, I learned more about my use of English.
I've been studying Buddhism seriously for about 2 years, and it has provided me great insight into my own existence and philosophy. Buddha himself studied for many years before achieving his enlightenment.
I have also learned not to call myself a Buddhist. That reifies matters too much. Instead, I continue to call myself a student of Buddhism. And I expect I will always be one.
