Is it different if the guy is a stranger/acquaintance?
Does it also matter if the guy doesn't smile?

When we meet. Seeing her smile. When she asks me a question. When she sneezes, laughs, cries, whimpers, sighs, whines, or opines. When she shows any emotion, when she shows no emotion. When she says she loves me or even when she frustrates me.

The eyes are the window to the soul, and I want to discover everything I can.

If they are just a stranger or acquaintance, looking into someone's eyes is common in verbal communication. Looking straight at someone eyes is better than looking down or looking around.

Now, if you have feelings for this person, it's a totally different story. Lol, as cliché as it sounds (and is), eyes are the valance into your soul. There come times in your relationship or courtship or whatever when there is something that you want to express that words really can't. It's at a time like this that I take my girlfriend and just look into her eyes. Not just into her eyes, but through them. It's kinda crazy. No words being said, but all the feeling you'd ever want in the world.

And to answer the other question... No, it doesn't necessarily matter if the guy smiles or not. If it's a serious moment, why does he necessarily have to smile?

Eyes reflect inner condition. A smiling face look attractive and leave a sweet feeling on the mind.
I think feeling of love is communicated through the eyes. Person looking into eyes may be your parent, close relatives, an old acquaintance. If you do not like it you eyes will definitely communicate hate.

It is only polite to look someone in the eyes whilst talking to them. And, most often it is not intentional, just instinct. However, I sense that you sensing more than just politeness. If he is interested (whether he knows it or not), his eyes will dilate some. Most often this goes unnoticed consciously, but subconsciously your brain picks up on it. If the guy is really dumb struck by you, then he may not even smile. A smile most likely means he is more self-confident. It doesn't matter to the guy re: stranger/acquaintance.
It's all about the eyes!

It gives us an idea about your personality. Let's us know if you are all there or thinking about something else.

No smile back could mean that he is not interested or maybe he trying to give you a serious sexy look (like those male models on billboards).

girl's eyes. i don't really like starring into a girls eyes to long for some reason it freaks me out. i can't stand looking at the girl's eyes for the entire conversation it's weird for me. does a guy have to have a reason? why do you look at a person's eyes? same reason. when you look into someone's eyes that might mean you're actually listening to what they're saying.

Eyes are the gateway to the soul...

personally, eyes have characteristics, they tell me if you're lyin, bored, happy, in the mood, on drugs, whatever.

whenever a guy looks into your eyes, he has nothing to hide. plus, he's not afraid to connect with you.

if he doesn't smile, that's kinda creepy. some people have deep passion while others may just have a starin problem. depends on the situation.

also, in my experience, i've found that eyes are safer and more attractive than boobs are. it's so weird, i can pinpoint what mood a woman's in by her eyes.

The eye thing is just a form of manipulation that we garnished from your sappy romance novels, movies, and songs; as a means to get into your pants. Any guy that tells you otherwise, has officially handed in his balls. Window to soul, blah blah blah.

If I ever admitted that eyes didn't do it for me...yeah I wouldn't get very far.

It is different if you're a stranger . . . if you know the person it means you totally are interested in what they have to say. It's a respect "thing". You are very into this person and what they have to say means a lot.

If you're a stranger, it means that I would love to get to know you better, there is something about you that intrigues me and wants to take the time to get to know you . . . you are special . . .

Trying to figure you out.

Usually because we think we might like you.

Sometimes used by con artists trying for a scam.

Used all the time in business negotiations, too. But that's a different situation entirely.
