I have a '97 Dodge Intrepid. I have been experiencing only semi-warm, and sometimes even cold air coming from the heater ducts even after the engine is up to operating temperature. However, on the recycled air side of the selector, I have consistant hot air, but that portion of the selector does not give me the option for the defroster. Any information that could guide me in the right direction to repair this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I would first check your coolant level, then your heater valve which is under the hood and in-line with the heater hoses, there should be a thin vacuum line going to it, check to make sure the line hasent come off and the valve isnt frozen. Next..... does your temp guage go up to the middle or stay low... it should go halfway up. If it doesnt then I would change the thermostat.

Most Dodge do have the problem with the heating so here is what you might have to do!
1.)Check Antifreeze/ Coolant (Make sure that level is up)
2.)Thermostat
3.)Flush out cooling system!
4.)Heater control valve
5.)*Heatercore* That is going to want to be your last option because of the price and the pain of putting one in!

utilising the heater won't reason the coolant to leak any quicker. That reported, you need to get it fixed ASAP. Antifreeze is a pollutant. determining of coolant might reason everlasting engine harm. utilising user-friendly water on your radiator can harm the engine because it is not shielded from corrosion, freezing, and boil-over. do no longer use a decrease rated radiator cap! it could reason your vehicle to overheat, and could no longer heavily decelerate the leak fee. the countless end-leak compounds are an truly momentary fix -- long sufficient to get homestead and scheduled in for an eternal restoration or radiator substitute. they'll clog the radiator and heater center and could reason greater problems over the years than they'll fix.
