Most likely. You should NEVER feed any dog, but especially puppies rich canned food, or people food, with very rare exceptions. Not only does it often make them sick (and you get to clean it up) but it destroys their teeth over time which leads to other health problems. Find a high quality PUPPY food, preferably dry, and stick with it. Add a little water if she has a hard time chewing it.

Anytime you get a new puppy, make sure to ask the breeder or the shelter what food he/she has been eating. Even if you don't plan on keeping the pup on that type of food, it is important to wean him off of it slowly. He is already nervous and upset by being in a new place even if he doesn't show it, so the last thing he needs is to be given a new food right from the start. Puppies stomachs are very sensitive to begin with. For the next week or so, give the pup the food that he was given originally. Then after that week, give him 3/4 old food and 1/4 new food. Third week give him 1/2 old food and 1/2 new food. Fourth week give him 1/4 old food and 3/4 new food. By week 5, you can have him on only the new food that you have chosen for him. That will help his belly and your carpet. It is always best to feed dogs hard food and not soft foods. Soft foods are usually full of fat and don't have the teeth cleaning abilties that hard foods have. Hard foods will also keep him from having bad breath.

I hope this helps. It is normal for puppies to vomit. We just have to do everything we can to help them out. They can get belly aches just like we can.

It may not be just the diet. First, your pup should have been vetted for first shots and deworming by now. Has your pup been out around other dogs/pups since birth where might have gotten infected. Is this a one time deal or ongoing, loose stool?

Did it vomit up whole undigested food or nasty stuff, watery? If you are posting and vets are closed there then keep a sharp eye on pup for any changes, getting worse. Young pups, even with a first shot, are still at risk for Parvo and other diseases. Mainly a concern if has been out a lot in yard or around neighbor dogs.

If your pup has been vetted, has been kept close to home and supervised and the vomiting does not continue then it could be diet. Go for a good quality dry puppy food only. Keep food/water down at all times to avoid "gulping down" the food all at once.

If vomiting continues, gets worse, not vetted yet--then pray for morning and find a vet to see the pup. Not to alarm you but Parvo starts with vomting and loose stool. Won't eat/drink/lays around/no energy-lethargic.

Quite possible, especially if she's been eating something else and you changed it suddenly. Puppy food is the way to go. Cesar is kind of a "fast food" brand of dog food from a nutriti0nal standpoint, lots of fat and salt, and hard on the body.

if i were you i would try hard food since the puppys tummy might not be able to break down the rich food. and try smaller portions. he could just be eating too fast.
