Would it be unfair to leave them home alone while I go to work?

Your honest input would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance for your thoughts.

I don't see why it would be a bad idea. Unless you are gone for more than 8 hours if you have them in an area that's just for them and they can't hurt anything including themselves or even kennel training them, I don't see why you couldn't get them. Just make sure that you excersize them a lot when you get home!!

It is not a good idea if you will be gone most of the time. Puppies got bored and they are curious about things... which could end up pretty "destructive".

Talking about breeds, make sure they fit your life style, both German Shepherd and Golden retriever are high energy breeds. They are also big dogs. Meaning they will be powerful and strong even before they become full growth. You need time to take them to class, train them and have plenty of play time with them so that their energy won't go into digging holes, going though trash can, chewing shoes, chasing birds or anything that moves, play with power cords.... just to name a few. If you are a Marathon runner and can keep up with them, go ahead! They will be your best running buddies ever!

Don't take me wrong, I loves dogs. Have two since they were puppies... Speaking from my own experience, it is lots of work. The potty training period made me wanted to give my pup away. But just be prepare and know what you are getting yourself into. Good Luck!

if you are able to financially provide for these pups, such as vet care, vaccines, spay or neuter, etc....and can provide the proper amount of attention and training and stimulation and exercise for two puppies at one time then go ahead. how long do you plan to leave them? the general rule is a puppy can hold their urine 1 hour for every month they are old plus one hour. and no more than 6 hours a day. if you are going to be gone longer than that, or can't get home regularly try and find a petsitter or walker that can come over and let them out to potty. get crates. two of them. don't keep both pups in the same crate. often that crate will be too big and they will soill in it. make sure they get plenty of exercise to compensate for the time they are crated. two puppies is hard work. you have to be able to watch both of them at the same time. it's like having a set of human twins. it will require, double the financial, and energy, patience and consistancy from you. research both of these breeds. these are two different breeds but both have a high activity level and are very intelligent and need constant mental stimulation. be sure you know what you are getting yourself into if you get two pups at once. if you are getting two at once to keep each other company, don't do it. a pup can be perfectly happy alone, if you provide enough stimulation and exercise. and then you can add another pup when your first pup is older and better trained. often this is better since the new pup will often follow the lead of the older trained dog. good luck, no matter what you choose.

As long as they are properly introduced, it will be fine. Puppies shouldn't be left alone all day during work though. They will need to be let out to go potty and when puppies get bored, they chew anything and everything so free reign of the house, NOT NOT a good idea. If you're going to get a puppy or two, also get a dogsitter for while you are at work because they will need extensive training. Puppies are a lot of work and can't be left alone for hours on end.

Introducing any dog as puppies, I personally think is ideal! And when you leave they'll have eachother to entertain themselves! Just make sure they potty before you leave, and if you don't live far away try to let them out during lunch as well! Make sure they have plenty of space and newspaper so they can potty on the newspaper! And lots of toys!

Two puppies at the same time is a terrible idea, especially if you're not going to be home to take care of one alone.
