The man sold us a car took the money and the car and left the state. All of his information turned out to be void and I'm wondering how do we find this person?

Call the police and report what happened. Don't wait for several months to pass. In the future, either buy from an established dealer (used or new) or make sure the seller signs the title over to you immediately after you pay. If he doesn't have the title at the time you pay, don't pay. Ebay motors is also a good place to buy a used car. The sellers have to submit documentation in order to sell on Ebay and Ebay has buyer protection.

Wow... if you never had the title switched over to your name, you've been screwed!
If you DID switch the title (and notified insurance of change) before he took the car, you can file a stolen vehicle report and report it to your insurance.

Do you have the VIN # or license plate # of the car? Did you pay with cash? Report it to your local police right away. I hope they catch this lowlife burden on society.
