You can do this with treats, but I don't recommend teaching your dog this trick. I thought it was cute to train my dog to speak/beg for a treat, and now he does it constantly anytime someone has food. We have to put him outside to have a meal or even a snack in peace.

Be careful what you wish for. My dog always begged at the table and would always get yelled at by my father.
There are so many other things that you can teach him to do. After a few days, you will wish that you never taught him that. You will get annoyed with him and it will be all your fault.
You really don't want a dog that begs. He will never stop once you get him started...TRUST ME.

I've never heard of a dog that could not beg! It is their nature to smell something and want it if it is food, and especially if you are eating it!

Patience and practice. The food we used was cheerios. Cuz dog treats will just fatten them up. hee hee. My family's cockapoo was trained that way and my beagle was too

its really not a good idea to try and get your dog to beg. he'll just start begging all the time and drive you crazy
