I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and the car that I was in was swarmed by the police. I was jerked out of the car and slammed on the ground. Now, not knowing what was going on I ask one of the cops whats going on. He in return smacked me in the lip with the hand with the gun in it. It busted, with a bruised cheek. I ask him his name and badge number and he refused to tell me. Now while all this was happening I was hand-cuffed on the ground, on my stomach. I have seen cops to other stuff to other people. I know people from other states who can tell a police "horror story". Where are the people who are surpose protect us. I'm discussed with the people I'm surpose to depend on to help me. Oh, the driver of the car had a warrent.

I knew that cops would get mad over this but that is exactly how it happened. The only thing that I see we did for the to ever mess with us was I am white and the guy driving was black. Get over it cops most of you are dirty.

Police have a way of being rough sometimes in ways the public does not understand. This often occurs when officer safety is involved. In your situation, the police knows at least one of you is wanted and they have no clue who you are. To be safe, they treat him and you as if you could cause them a problem or threaten their safety.

That being said, there is certain conduct that is unacceptable. Behavior such as that you described is unacceptable, especially if he was using the same hand that held his gun. If he refused to provide his name and ID number, you could do your best to describe what he looked like to the department when making a complaint.

There is excessive force used every day. It's not always in the form of shooting or otherwise causing true bodily injury, but it goes on. Part of this is due to cops having to deal with the same old people every day or week. This conduct, while generally unreported by most true criminals unless there is evidence, helps to drive the wedge further between the criminal element and the police. I believe if the police had a better rapport with the criminal element PENDING THEY ARE ENFORCING LAWS, the job would be easier because criminals would respect the police more. We lose respect when we use force that is not necessary.

Not all of us...not all police are dirty. Most do their best to get the job done within the standards placed upon us. But people tend to remember the stories of dirty cops better than those of good cops. And those who tell the bad cop stories have a way of embellishing some facts.

Just like every profession, there are good and bad. It is unfortunate that you had a bad experience with law enforcement and that this forum is filled with so much police bashing. The majority of law enforcement officers are good people who believe in protecting and serving there community. We lost such an individual yesterday morning.

Deputy Alan Inzer of Lake Charles, LA was off duty and on his way home when he saw a robbery in progress. He was off duty, He didn't have to stop, He didn't have to get involved, He could have called 911 and let someone else take care of it but that wasn't Alan. He saw someone in trouble and got out of his vehicle. THE CRIMINALS opened fire and Alan was killed. He was 43 and leaves behind a beautiful wife, other family, and many friends. The world was a bettter place with this good, caring man of intergrity in it and now BECAUSE OF SOME CRIMINAL he is gone.

I write this because I am tired of the constant police bashing on this web site and in this country. Many good men and women are out there putting there lives on the line for all of the people in this country every single day and we should not forget that nor should we slander them because of the acts of one or two rogue individuals.

I am sorry you had a bad experience with the police. When ever I see these tales, I always wonder what else happened thats being left out of the story. While I know that there are some police out there who act improperly, it is not the norm. Considering that they are putting there lives on the line for us everyday, I think we should be a little more respectful in this forum.

Answer is obvious: NO.
Police officers just want to "go home" when their shift is over to they're loved ones... just like you and me.

When you say that "you" were in the "wrong place at the wrong time".. boy, were you ever. That's too bad.

What you failed to mention is "why" the police "swarmed" the car you were in. Police pull people over everyday for routine things.
But they do not swarm a vehicle without a good reason.

You also failed to mention what the driver who had a warrant was arrested for. I can tell you this... It wasn't for having too many parking tickets.

It was for a felony.

When the police make a "felony stop", EVERYONE in the vehicle is a potential danger to their safety.

The police NEED TO MAKE SURE that all occupants of the vehicle are "secure" thereby posing no threat to the officers safety, and most importantly, the safety of the public.

During an incident of this type, obey the commands that the police make upon you... do not resist, even worse, use bad language... I'm sure your persistance in "wanting" a name and badge number came after a lot of resistance, because you felt "violated" in some degree.

As you are "innocent" this is understandable.. to a point.

You need to understand that the police have a job to do.
Do not, or ever take this personally.

One last aspect of this unfortunate situation that you left out is this: What is your relationship to the driver?

Was he/she a mere "aquantance" or a personal friend?

Always remember this: The police are not perfect.. they are human just like anyone.

Also... most important... think twice about who's car you get into.

That ride...
may be your last.

One last thing... when you ever need help...
and have to dial 911...

Caring individuals... Men and Women...
that wear a badge...
that take an oath to protect society...

Will be the ones that some day...
(hopefully never)
but someday...
save your life.

Choose your "friends" more carefully, OK?

Good Luck.

Where is the 'dirty" , you where in the company of a wanted individual. But of course you would have known that.

It sounds like the police acted swiftly and secured the scene to protect you and them selves. If you believe you were unfairly or unnjustly treated then you have the right to lodge a complaint.

Be real sure of your fact because if you are wrong the police officer will have every right to sue you.

I wont be surprised if you are not looked at for either aiding and abbetting or harbouring.

If you get of with a split lip and a small bruise then you have had a good hair day girlie

Not to sound stereotypical...but this guy probably has a criminal record you don't know much about. Possibly a violent history. So the vehicle was surrounded and taken so aruptly because of a possiblity of violence. For all the police knew, you were violent as well. Im sure they have a good reason for the force they used. Police are not dirty, they are doing there job. Protecting us law abiding citizens!

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. There are all types of people in the world and not only is it a flawed theory to say any two people are the same much less an entire group of people. I know you're upset and I can empathize with you, you have to see people as individuals not what group, organization, or whatever they belong to.Believe I've been in situations where it would have been easier at the time to blame on a larger scale, but in reality it only leaves you feeling, angry scared and cold inside. Heal from you're experience and let it make you stronger.

No they aren't, I mean some are but there are many reasons people become officers, my brother in law is the nicest person you will ever meet and he has been an officer for over 6 years he is honestly out there to make a difference now state troopers that give out tickets for running yellow lights now that is another story.... no just kidding kind of lol then there are police with control issues who misuse there power for bad things but there is more good then bad someone told me this acually today on yahoo answers police are people to, they make mistakes just like you and me, but with out them we would be lost, most of them try to do what they can to keep us safe :)

I bet a million dollars that there is a lot more to this story than we are getting. I was told a similiar story by my neighbor where I used to live.
It was a tragic tale of police abuse and included some sexual things done to his sister at the hands of the terrible police.
The funny thing was, I was there, nothing at all happened like he said. Everyone in car we stopped had a warrant for their arrest and there was a completely realistic copy of an M-16 rifle in the car.
So, pardon me if I wonder what else happened, it's not that bad things don't occasionaly happen to good people, but there is usually a bit more going on than meets the eye.

Ever hear of "guilty by association?" Or "where theres smoke, theres fire?" I don't know about the Police Officer hitting you, that of course is your side of the story and I wasn't there to see it, but one thing I do know is you should quit hanging around losers or you better get used to that "laying on the ground" position. You seem like a nice kid. Talk to your parents about what happened, or would you rather it was kept "hush hush" since the friends you keep are obviously not all that great? My advice; You seem better than that so get new friends and pay more attention to what is happening around you, or next time, it may not be the Police you have to worry about, it may be the dirt bag sitting next to you.
