I just had my transmission replaced in my 06 sentra SER SPEC-V because it would grind from 1st to second everytime. Diag at the dealership showed something was amiss (thats how they said it) so they just replaced the whole thing under my warranty. I just got it back today and it still is making the noise. Could it be something Im doing? I havent driven an automatic for that long so maybe im shifting to high? Can you do that? To me it almost sounds like is not engaging. I've made sure so hold the cluch down long enough and give it the right amount of gas. Also it never makes the noise on a downshift.
thanks for any help!!

take it back to the place that fixed it
look at the transmission and see if it looks new. if its dirty the may have done nothing and told you the replaced it

and with regards to dodge mans answer ... no dealer is going to do a warranty repair without test driving it them selves

As a first check, without the engine running push your clutch to the floor and shift through the gears disengaging the clutch every time. When you get a good feel for this, increase your shifting speed and clutch petal at the correct time. Do this for at least three minutes. If you 're not able to smoothly shift with out a mechanical bind or complete lock up during this shifting test somethings amiss and the name is not Linda. Make these guys check your clutch to be sure it's fully dis- engaging when the clutch petal is on the floor while shifting gears. Occasionally the clutch disc may be sticking on the transmission spline. The transmission input shaft may be sticking in the flywheel bushing. If that's not it. Make them check all shifting cables (crappy way to change gears) instead of linkage high strength steel rods with Heim joints on the ends. If this will not fix it, I'd get an attorney fast and drop a lemon law suit at them, dump it now while you still can. Run with your money. Then you're feeling better try out a Camery LE. Great suspension, almost too quiet & 35 mpg. I've got one! You do not deserve this stuff in a brand new car!

If you're having grinding between gears like that, you might not be pushing the clutch all the way to the floor. I had problems with grinding right after I had my clutch replaced. You might just be trying to go too fast. You said that it's new, so you might not be completely used to it yet. Just take it slow and shift at lower rpm's for awhile until you get used to that particular vehicle.

Let someone else drive your car to make sure it's not you...if it still makes the noise take it back until they fix it...in California if they cannot fix the problem in three tries you can file for a lemon law car and get your monies back...
