Along with countries like Iran, Yemen, N. Korea etc. British citizens are not allowed to apply for Green Cards through the lottery. Why is this?

A summary of what I already know...
Irish citizens CAN enter the Green Card lottery.
There is no such discrimination against any other 'developed' country. Each country is allocated a certain number of Green Cards via the lottery.
There is no 'legal' way for even the most skilled applicant to emigrate to the USA other than by marrying an American.
There is no similar prohibition on American's emigrating to the United Kingdom.

LOL! Well, should've guessed that getting a sensible answer wasn't going to happen.
Perhaps its about time the the UK reciprocates the 'special relationship' and closes its door to Yanks in appreciation.
And BTW we'er not talking about 'refugees' we're talking about skilled migrants who, it would seem, the US is quite happy to exploit in short term contracts using visas but not willing to make permanent residents.
Work your butt off, pay your taxes, do everything legally but get told to get lost when you ask to stay.

because the lottery is to promote more diversity in the US, to encourage countries with low immigration rates. and besides...why wold you want to leave england??? i think we want to save it for people who deserve it, and i'm not sure the british "need" the US for anything...it's not really going to change your lifestyle, give you a job opportunity you didn't have at home, improve your quality of life or anything like that

The rule is that less than [whatever the number is] of legal immigrants have to come to the US from a particular country before that country is in the greencard lottery.
It would be fair if there weren't so many millions illegally here from a single country, but as it is, it does seem a bit ironic.

Because UK is considered one of those countries that has a free visa waiver program where their nationals don't need a visa to visit the USA, hence it's much for easier for them to migrate to USA as against nationals of other countries who need a visa and have a slim chance if any of getting one by applying through normal means.

there are various international locations (approximately 18) whose electorate are no longer eligible for the DV lottery because of the fact they sent a entire of greater advantageous than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. over the era of the previous 5 years. the united kingdom is blanketed in that record. Northern eire is seen a separate entity for DV purposes.

Wow, I find that rather offensive. Although I think anyone with something to offer, who can't be proven a terrorist should be allowed to immigrate here legally and become a citizen if they so choose, rather than forcing some people to marry for citizenships sake. Thats just wrong.

I am gonna say it like it is White Brits or Irish cannot come into Canada or the U.S anymore either we can go nowhere its like we are invisible,and there is a lot of poor white people over there but a line is drawn under their name and they are told **** off you qualify for **** all stay off the streets we really don't want to see you...We now want a bunch of thieving Roma Gyppo's Nigerians and the Scum of the earth,So long as they are not white.

I am glad you asked this. Americas policy is very very biased. europeans no longer can immigrate to america easily. It is a warped policy that seeks to create parody among races. Nigggers and spics can come here because there is less of em than whites..so we need more rag heads nigggers and spics her to creat parody..it has totally wrecked our country and now you see how screwed up we are.
